The Beach - 2017

This van was Scott's childhood family vehicle. Since flying from the West to East coast is so expensive, we asked to borrow the van in order to save some money. We are grateful that we were able to use it but by the end, we realized that this would probably be its final road trip. It kept us laughing as many problems started popping up throughout the trip. By the time we arrived back in Virginia, the passenger door and trunk doors would not open so we had to all crawl through and pull our luggage out the front doors. Also, the floor of the van was rusting out near one of the seat anchors, so we had to make sure not to let anyone sit there for fear the seat breaking through the bottom of the car. Last, the transmission was struggling and overheating so badly that our drinks on the floor felt like they had been zapped in a microwave. We are glad that it had one last road trip in it for us and thought it was a great send off after serving Scott's family for so many years!

Utah/Idaho Trip - 2017

Moving was a little more complex this time around. Scott's start date in the California office was the end of June, so he drove 30 hours in the van with his brother Eric. I stayed behind for two weeks to let the kids finish swim team until the beginning of July. After swim ended, my mom helped me fly with the kids from Louisiana to California on a Saturday. We arrived at about 10pm in California and then at 3:30am on Sunday, I had to drive Scott two hours to an airport in Los Angeles so he could be at the house while the movers loaded everything up. The kids, my mom and I then went to church, loaded up the van and drove 10 hours to Utah on Monday.  Scott then flew back to California where they dropped off our 2nd car and delivered our boxes about one week later. It was crazy! So much packing and traveling in one week for both Scott and I (especially with four kids plus a 9 month old baby). And since that wasn't enough traveling, we also took the kids on a 6 hour drive up to Island Park near Yellowstone. It was so much fun though!

We put the kids to work moving firewood.

We had fun watching the wildlife at Big Springs.

Reuben caught a ride on Grandpa's shoulders on the little hike to Johnny Sack's cabin near Big Springs.

Scott flew into Utah towards the end of our visit and took some beautiful pictures of American Fork Canyon, . . .

. . . the Aspen trees, . . .

. . . and our little hike around Cascade Springs just off the Alpine Loop.

This moose was so close to the trail!

Moving to California

Before moving Scott had to redo our front door because the handyman we paid to fix it up did a terrible job. Wish we could have enjoyed the finished house projects we did before selling the house.

Scott drove out to California with his brother Eric while I stayed in Louisiana with the kids so they finished up swim team. He and Eric stopped and took these pictures in the middle of the road.

Swim Team 2017

This was our last time doing swim team in Louisiana because we will be moving to California at the end of the summer. The kids have learned so much the last couple of years and we have all enjoyed making friends (me included:). I love that the focus has been on improving their times as much as competing with other swimmers.

Here is the pool all set up for a swim meet.

I just had to throw this picture in of Adeline. She LOVED this pink octopus. Also, this girl kept her tan from swimming for an entire year afterwards. So jealous of her skin!
