Blueberry Picking

After living in Louisiana for over two years, we finally got around to picking blueberries this year. I regret not starting sooner and have fallen in love with all things blueberry! Mmmmmm!

Surprise, surprise this picky little eater would not even try a single blueberry; so being the kind parents we are, we shoved one into his mouth. He hates blueberries, just like every other fruit and vegetable that has been in his mouth (and believe me, we have tried so, so many).

Here are the 20 pounds of blueberries that we picked on our first trip. I went back with Peter and Rigby and picked another 20 pounds.

We had to let them cool down for 24 hours before freezing them or cooking with them.

Forty pounds of blueberries sounds a little excessive, but we found plenty of ways to use them all:

A few batches of blueberry muffins, . . .

. . . blueberry ice cream,. . .

. . . blueberry pancakes, blueberry jam, and blueberry pie!

I cannot wait until the next blueberry season!
