Pinewood Derby 2019

This past October all the wards in our stake were split up and reorganized, so the different organizations have been scrambling to get things back into working order. Because of this our ward decided to have a ward barbecue activity combined with the Pinewood Derby at a park. Rigby had a blast designing his car and Reuben was able to participate as well because they had extra cars.

I love Rigby's face when he got a prize.

Adeline's 7th Birthday

Adeline asked for a pumpkin pie for her birthday. It's not Fall but we happen to have pumpkin loving people living here and it was gone in one night!

Adeline got some princess sticker, a princess stationary set, a Minnie Mouse necklace and earrings, a restaurant & movie coupon and money. She also got her ears pierced this year!

Adeline is such a hard worker and thoughtful little girl. She always says, "I love you," to me as she leaves for school and is always asking Scott and I, "how was your day Mom/Dad?" I always said she could get her ears pierced when she was eight, but I just couldn't wait and asked her if she wanted to get it done this year. She very excitedly said yes and was very brave; she didn't even flinch when they pulled the trigger. She has been VERY responsible to remind me about putting the solution on her ears. We both have so much fun picking out her jewelry on Sundays! Adeline loves to play with friends and is always telling me about games she plays at school and the friendship drama that goes on. We love you, Adeline!

Universal Studios: Harry Potter World

This past year I have read all seven Harry Potter books to Peter and Rigby and turned them into Harry Potter nerds. So when we found out that we would be living only a couple hours away from Harry Potter World (at Universal Studios), I knew we had to go. I'm glad we went, but it did end up being a little disappointing compared to Disneyland. The rides were okay, not great, and most of the Harry Potter things cost A LOT of money in addition to the cost of admission. I say go once, but for us, it probably will not be a repeat experience. We did get some fun pictures and made some great memories.

Hogwarts!

Peter, Rigby, Adeline and myself all bought a $57 wand. They had motion sensors in the end and you could go around the park with a map to cast spells and make things move (they had a hidden camera that would sense the wand). I chose Fleur Delacour's wand.

Adeline chose Nymphadora Tonks' wand.

Rigby chose Harry Potter's wand.

Peter chose the Elder wand.

We bought 2 chocolate frogs for $12 each. This past year Reuben has discovered that chocolate is delicious, so he almost ate half of one frog (they are enormous!).

Adeline and Rigby had to both hold the chocolate frog and feed each other. It was cute and funny to watch.

Peter spent $12 on a Felix Felicis Potion (a luck serum in the book). He drank half of it and got sick (it was pure sugar, honey); guess it wasn't so lucky after all! Afterwards he told me he regretted that purchase.

We also bought some butter beer which tastes like a butterscotch creamed soda. I think Peter and Rigby were sad that they spent all their money on the wands when they couldn't really use them for anything again. So to help them feel better (since I strongly encouraged the purchase) I made a little display in their rooms so they could remember the fun we had and the time we spent together reading the books.
