I decided to give Peter a bath yesterday. The bad part is that I left my razor on the side of the tub. It was hidden by the shower curtain, but, as you know, all little kids have super duper vision. So, Peter saw it and decided to pick up his new toy. I was sitting right there, but, as you know, all little kids can also grab things at lightening speeds. I took it from his hand and did not see any blood-I was safe. I wrapped him in his towel and then, went to put his diaper on when I noticed there was blood all over his towel. He managed to escape from me during this time and wiped blood all over the carpet and the toilet. I quickly grabbed some band aides and wrapped up his little thumb which had to be changed two minutes later because it was soaked with blood. After that, I frantically tried to clean up Peter and the apartment before Scott came home; because in my mind, I thought he would freak out (he gets queasy at the sight of blood) and think I was an irresponsible and bad mom for not moving the shaver. Of coarse he did not respond that way! I guess I was thinking irrationally because I felt really guilty for not moving something dangerous out of Peter's reach. Well, Scott was actually really calm and helped me not feel so horrible. He later called my father-in-law who told me a story about a time when Scott got cut with a shaver. The shaver slipped into the tub during bath time and Scott sat on it! Ouch!!! Well, now the trick is to keep Peter's bandaged thumb out of his mouth. Good luck to us! Here is a picture of his little thumb:

Candy Thief
We must admit that our little boy is a bit of a piggy when it comes to food. He screams, begs, grabs, and won't give up until he has his mouth full of whatever he is after. We do not make it to many sit down restaurants with him, because he won't be happy (and I mean scream and cry very loudly the whole time) unless his mouth is stuffed with food the entire time. Food is a serious business with him. I remember when he was little, he would nurse for as long as I would let him; as a result, he would over-eat and end up spitting up half of his meal. So, candy from Halloween was no exception. He was after it in a second. About two minutes after he had begun, he had a package opened and had stuffed a dot into his mouth.
Peter's 1st Halloween
So, like any new mom I was very excited for Peter's 1st Halloween. Peter, on the other hand, was not so sure about it as evidenced by the pictures. In fact, he cried for the first few minutes after I put his pumpkin suit on.
To make him more pumpkin like, I stuffed one of his blankets into his pumpkin suit. That did not make Peter very happy because he could not crawl very well at all--poor kid!

We're Here!
So, we finally made it to Texas! And in one piece thankfully. The first day (Friday) we drove from American Fork to Albuquerque, NM; we didn't leave until 1 p.m. from Provo, so we didn't get to Albuquerque until 2 a.m. The second day we drove from Albuquerque to Austin, TX, and again, we didn't make it to Austin until 2 a.m. Then, on Sunday we drove from Austin to Houston and checked into our apartment. By the way, Peter was WONDERFUL! He hardly cried the entire trip. What an amazing traveler!
My parents stayed for one week to help us get unpacked and settled in. I think we finally may have most of the boxes unpacked. Scott is enjoying his job--the only problem is that they weren't expecting him until the end of October, so nothing was ready when he came. It will probably be a while before we get another car, so for now if I want transportation during the day, I have to drive Scott to the vanpool (about one mile away) at 5:30 a.m. I am glad that he is able to use public transportation though, it saves on the gas bill a lot! Well, here is the official grand tour of our apartment. Excuse all of the adjectives of lovely--my script was impromptu.

6 Month Check-Up
Family Pictures
We were able to get some family pictures done this summer. Of those family pictures, one was a picture of 5 generations! Here they are:
Sitting on the bench at Scott's family reunion.
The Beach
This was Peter's first official vacation with both Scott and I. He rode a plane for the first time. The only trouble was a messy diaper that leaked onto my pants & a little fussiness on the way to Virginia; other than that he was an angel. We drove down to Surfside, South Carolina (a 9 hour car ride & he only really cried for the last hour!) and spent a whole week at the beach. It was Scott's Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary celebration, so we were able to see most of his family and get a lot of babysitters! All of this traveling is just practice for moving to Texas--a 25 hour car ride! Ahhhhh!
Peter was terrified of the waves, so he held onto Scott for dear life.

CRAWLING!!!
The little boy has finally learned to crawl! He did his first official crawl last Thursday night. It is fun to see him reach this milestone, but baby proofing the apartment has been a challenge with trying to pack up.

"Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater"
We always sing that nursery rhyme to him. I can't believe that he is almost 6 months old already. Here are some fun pictures of Peter who is chubbier than ever. He can sit up very well now, and he can also get himself into the crawling position, but thankfully he cannot crawl yet. When he is angry he makes N sounds like "nay, na, nih;" we think it's funny and we laugh, but he doesn't think so. When he is happy he makes a breathy sigh like, "ahh, ahh." Well, here they are!
Little Bird
We started Peter on solids because he kept drenching us with spit up-he has the hardest time keeping the milk down. When he likes what we are feeding him, he opens his mouth really wide like a little bird; it's so cute!
Yuck!
When Peter wakes up from sleeping, he has to rub his eyes and his face against his mattress or our shoulders or anything--it is quite the process. So, the other day he spit up while he was waking up from his nap, and he happened to rub his face all over in the spit up. It was on his eye lashes, up his nose, everywhere! Yuck! It was funny though because he looked at us as if to say, "what happened to me?"

Roll Over
Here is a video of Peter rolling over. He is obsessed with rolling over. He tries to roll over in the bath tub, his bouncy chair, his swing, and we always find him on his tummy for naps and at night. He gets so frustrated because he wants to move when he gets on his tummy, but it will be a while (hopefully!) before he crawls.

Growing Boy!
Peter just went in for his 4 month check-up. He now weighs 15 pounds (the 50th percentile), measures 24 inches long (the 15th percentile), and measures 16 3/4 inches (the 23rd percentile) around the head!

Peek-A-Boo
Peter has finally started to laugh!!! He laughed for Grandma Stewart first and then, he would laugh a little while we put his pajamas on at night. I really got him to giggle the other night when I played peek-a-boo with him; so, here is the video. Enjoy!!

Rice Cereal
Peter tried rice cereal for the first time today. He didn't have a bib, so he had to borrow a girly bib from Isabelle. He grabbed onto the tray the entire time like he was on a roller coaster! Surprisingly, he didn't get too messy; he actually got most of the cereal into his mouth and swallowed it. Mmmmm!

Douglas Peter Flamm
Peter was just blessed on Sunday, April 13th, 2008. He was dressed in a darling little tuxedo. He slept wonderfully that night and was a little angel during the entire blessing. Although, after church he decided to poop all over his white little tux. I think he was probably getting us back for making him try on three outfits at the store the day before.
