State Parks - April 2010

We went to Battleship Texas State Park with Scottie's family over the weekend. It is the only remaining dreadnought battleship from the WWI. All other battleships were destroyed because of treaty agreements. Here are some pictures:

Peter taking a nap (I wish). He was a wild boy running EVERYWHERE. The ship was a maze, so it was hard to keep track of the kid. Good thing the adults numbered six to one toddler so we had a fighting chance to keep track of him.

Doug & Scottie cranking the gun into position.

Here is Ryan posing as a navy man at one of the guns-nice salute.

I was a nervous wreck with Peter around all of the ledges on this boat. AHHH! I am definitely buying a leash for future adventures such as this.

We also stopped by the San Jacinto Monument. This is where Texans finally defeated Santa Anna and won their independence from Mexico. I think this battle was only a couple of months after the Alamo.
